Cooperating School Districts Honored With Media Literacy Award
The Gateway Media Literacy Partners, Inc. (GMLP) has honored the Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis, Inc. (CSD) for its commitment to the promotion of media literacy education throughout the St. Louis area. The 2008 Klotzer Media Literacy Award was presented to CSD on October 12.
GMLP created a week-long celebration of media literacy education programs with partners in the bi-state area. In addition to Cooperating School Districts, they include Webster University, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Lindenwood University, The Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University of St. Louis.
“CSD is one of the few and early purveyors of media literacy education, long before the field was on the radar of the education community,” says GMLP 2008 Awards Committee Chair, Anne Bader. She adds, “We applaud CSD for its complete support of Gateway Media Literacy Partners when it was just a thought back in 2004 and for its continued media literacy education outreach to its member districts as well as to education audiences around the globe. GMLP is most grateful and appreciative.”
Cooperating School Districts is a non-profit education consortium of 65 public school districts in Missouri and Illinois.
