Character Education Conference a Huge Success
More than 700 educators attend 15th annual event
The 15th Annual Character Education Conference, hosted by
CHARACTERplus, a project of Cooperating School Districts of Greater
St. Louis, Inc. (CSD) was held July 9-10 at is new location, the
Hyatt Regency St. Louis Riverfront Hotel. The conference attracted
more than 700 educators.
Barbara Levin, Missouri Character Education Project Associate and
coordinator for the 2009 Character Education Conference says, “The
confirmation of the importance educators place on this conference
was evident this year.” She adds, “With the economic downturn we
expected a smaller conference but the attendance was higher than we
anticipated. We are astonished, gratified, and excited to do this
again in 2010, which will be held earlier in the year on June
22-24.”
The Character Education Conference, held annually for K-12
educators, is frameworked within the No Child Left Behind
legislation and parallels the National Staff Development Councils
Staff Development Standards.
The Cooperating School Districts, CIGNA Healthcare, University of
Missouri-St. Louis, Center for Character and Citizenship, Missouri
State High School Activities Association, Vantage Credit Union,
Elliott Data Systems, Inc., Xerox, QuickTrip, DDI Media, and
Schiller’s Camera and Video sponsor the 15th Annual Character
Education Conference.
