Two St. Louis-Area Educators Earn High Honors

The Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis, Inc. (CSD) congratulates two area educators for receiving prestigious national teaching awards.

Kimm O’Connor, principal of Cedar Springs Elementary School in the Northwest R-1 School District, received the Terrel H. Bell Award for Outstanding School Leadership at the 2009 Blue Ribbon Schools Award Ceremony.  The Terrel H. Bell Award recognizes outstanding school leaders and the vital role they play in overcoming challenging circumstances.  Under her leadership at Cedar Springs, student state assessment scores have risen and the scores of economically disadvantaged students and students with disabilities have risen in tandem.

CSD also congratulates Eric Dunn, a high school math teacher in the Webster Groves School District.  Dunn was recently awarded the 2009 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award.  The award, with its $25,000 prize, is considered one of educations highest honors.  Dunn has been with the Webster Groves School District for 12 years and during that time, the district reports rising state math scores and advanced placement scores.
