And The Winner of The Spring Walking District Challenge is
Wright City School District!

item19

terribeckerTerri Becker, Union Middle School Counselor, logged 847 miles to become the first CSD Wellness Walking Works Individual Winner. For her effort she won a $100 gift card!

Terri is truly an inspiration to anyone who ever said, “they can’t”, “I don’t have time”, or “I’m too old”. When she turned 40 three years ago, she decided she wasn’t going to let age or anyone telling her she was too small to discourage her from taking up running. With a little effort and determination, Terri finished her first marathon within the first year of running. Since then she has not only finished four more, but qualified for the Boston Marathon! She also competes in Tough Mudder events, hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie, while raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Terri also started an annual 5K run fund raiser to benefit the ALS Foundation and student scholarship fund. Her genuine concern for the health and wellbeing of the people in her district is evident, as she sponsors an after school exercise and nutrition club for students and staff. But she’s not through yet, just to conquer her fear of heights, Terri took up sky diving!

terribeckertrophiesTerri is an inspiration and model for us all to aspire, but she says, “the key to my success and enthusiasm are the baby steps I took to get here, and now it’s just a way of life…I’ve never felt better!”

Our Second Place Winner is Laura Ohren

LauraOhren1Laura is from the Normandy School District and is this year’s second place overall individual in the Walking Works District Challenge. She is an inspiration to us all, when last year Laura found her mother’s Weight Watchers book and started to read, followed the guidelines within the book, increased her physical activity, and lost 77 pounds!! She took advantage of the “Challenge” as another motivator to keep physically active, and won an Apple IPod Shuffle for her efforts!
