In a rapidly evolving world, where communication is the center of progress, it is a moral imperative to ensure no one is left behind. Manos Communications, LLC stands at the forefront of this mission, striving to bridge the gap and make the world more inclusive for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities. In addition to providing translation services, what do they do for our communities? What drives this organization’s passion? How are they turning words into actions, creating opportunities for cultural translation, and changing lives in the process? We interviewed Rogelio Fernández Mota, owner of Manos Communications to find out.

What inspired the founding of your organization, and what is its mission?

Manos Communications, LLC was founded because cultural translation is necessary for spreading new information, knowledge, and ideas. We offer professional English and Spanish translation services with flexible plans for organizations. We assign our translators to only projects where proficiency and skill levels complement their experience and qualifications. Additionally, customers’ required cultural and social understanding is considered.

What are some of the programs or services that your organization offers to the community, and how do they make a difference?

We host Manos Summits to bring together leaders to address these questions through various lenses.

MANOS3 Nation was established in 2019 as our fundraising arm to strengthen organizations within Deaf communities by leading several fundraising opportunities throughout the year. Our past fundraisers include supporting Texas School for the Deaf Foundation and Deaf Organizations Fund.

How does your organization involve volunteers and community members in its work, and what impact do they have?

We do a lot of volunteering with local community organizations/partners that involve hosting summits, leading activities, providing mentorship, and more!

Can you share a specific success story or achievement that your organization has had, and what impact did it had on the community?

MANOS3 Nation host fundraisers every year with non-profit organizations. The most recent event we hosted was a virtual run fundraiser for Deaf Organizations Fund called Dash for Deaf Organizations. We succeeded in raising over $10,000 to support their mission: strengthening organizations working with Deaf communities.

What is in your organization’s future plans?

We want to and plan on hosting more summits and fundraisers for our marginalized communities.

What’s the funniest or most memorable moment your team has had while working together?

Planning and hosting the Dash for Deaf Organizations virtual run event was the most memorable time for us, working with the Deaf Organizations Fund team. The possibilities for supporting our marginalized communities are endless!
